1890s Antique Paper Tinsel Ornament Sailor with Flowers, Victorian Tinsel Christmas Ornament with Cellophane

Fabulous very early German tinsel and paper ornament with a delightful smiling sailor boy who is delivering a message, armed with colorful flower bouquets! Circa 1890s.

This is an amazing antique Christmas ornament, featuring lovely high quality litho printing that the Germans are known for. There is so much fine detail to this paper scrap image which has lovely embossed areas. He’s simply adorable with those curly golden locks, rosy, cheeks, and blue eyes. His blue sailor shirt is finished with a red striped tie. Two woven baskets are looped over his arms, full of bright and colorful flowers. Find white daisies, blue forget-me-nots, and roses of course! He holds a sealed envelope, a message of love for the recipient. The paper litho is topped with a silver tinsel loop at the top and a tinsel spray at the bottom. Bright blue cellophane strips complete this special ornament.

It measures 7 inches tall by 3.75 inches wide and is in excellent antique condition. The colors are vibrant and crisp, the paper scrap free of tears, scratches, or marks. The lead tinsel is still sparkly and bright. What a fabulous early antique paper and tinsel ornament ornament, a wonderful gift for the sailor in your life!
