1900s Art Nouveau Christmas Card Gilt Insert, Antique Embossed Christmas Greeting Card

Fabulous antique Art Nouveau Christmas greeting card, featuring a lovely hand tinted embossed die cut design with gilt insert!

Excellent early 1900s German Christmas card of fine quality on heavy, die cut card stock. A beautiful Art Nouveau embossed illustration features mistletoe and a heart wheel which have been hand painted. A gold star is in the center with “A Merry Christmas” message printed. The inside holds a paper insert, assembled with a cotton string tied at the edge.

The message is printed in pretty gold ink, “A merry Christmas” on the first page. When opened up it reads,

On the left side:

If life were as bright for thee,
As I would have it be,
‘Twould then be bright indeed.

To Papa & Mamma

On the right side:

Hearty Greetings,
And best of good wishes
this Christmas-tide.

This wonderful antique vintage Christmas card measures 6 inches by 3.75 inches and it is in excellent condition, being over 100 years old! It is marked, “Made in Germany” on the back. There are no creases, tears, or stains to the paper. The colors are still crisp and bright, the red hearts fading a bit on one side. There are a few spots of foxing on the inside which the photos show.
