1920s Antique Free Blown Wire Wrapped Swan Christmas Ornament Germany, Hanging Glass Bird Ornament

Very early antique blown mercury glass bird with berry Christmas ornament, in fabulous condition. It is a rare tinsel and wire wrapped hanging bird, complete with the original tail feathers. Circa early 1900s, Germany.

Lovely, hard to find antique free blown glass swan ornament with a hand painted design and wire wrap. Circa 1920s, Germany.

It is simply wonderful featuring a turquoise blue body with a trio of white sprays on its back. The point tip of the beak still has the tiny ball of glass where the glass blower ended. Amazing after all of these years! It is wrapped with thin silver crinkle wire. The tail is comprised of the original spun glass. A wire hanging loop is attached at the top, also wrapped.

It measures 5 inches wide beak tip to tail end. The glass bird is 3.25 inches. It is in excellent antique condition free of chips, cracks, or breaks. There is a small bit of paint loss on one white spray, but minor.

This is a very special antique hanging glass bird ornament, mouth blown and shaped with a paddle, not from a mold. A one of a kind treasure!

A must have for any antique German or Victorian Christmas ornament collection. A thoughtful gift for the bird lover!
