Vintage Corning Glass Christmas Ornament Blue Lantern, American US of A Prewar Ornament

Very early Corning USA glass ornament, an unusual and rare paneled lantern shape!

This is a wonderful and harder to find vintage American ornament that was first released in 1939. It is a nice Wedgewood blue color and features four tapering panels which culminate in a rounded bottom with a small finial. The edges of the panels are ribbed and smooth. It retains the original very early smooth metal cap which reads “Made in U.S. of A.” . This imprinted text which includes the word “of” helps to date this to this early prewar period of late 1930s to early 1940s. (Later caps were simplified without it.) The cap has oxidized and the type is worn over the years, but it can still be read. An original cotton cord hanging loop is still attached, always a nice bonus on these old finds!

It measures 3 inches tall to the top of the cap and is in excellent vintage condition free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. There is some minor age related wear.

This is a fabulous early Corning Glass Christmas ornament, in a harder to find shape. A great addition to any USA ornament collection!
