Vintage Corning Glass Christmas Ornament Star Lantern, American US of A Prewar Ornament
Very early Corning USA glass ornament, an unusual and rare paneled lantern shape with a star on each side! American made, designed by Steuben Glass, 1940s.
This is a very desirable harder to find vintage American ornament that was first released in 1939. It features four panels which alternate silver and red, each with a nice star outdent in the middle. The top side of the ornament has six triangular panels, three smooth and three ribbed. The very top is ringed and culminates with the large pike. The bottom has four ribbed panels which come to a rounded point at the bottom. The top of the panels are beaded, adding more design! It retains the original smooth metal split cap which reads “Made in USA”. The cap has oxidized and the type is worn over the years, but it can still be read.
It measures 3 inches tall to the top of the cap and is in excellent vintage condition free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. There is some minor age related wear and oxidation near the pike.
This is a fabulous early Corning Glass Christmas ornament, in a harder to find shape. A must-have addition to any USA ornament collection!
