Corning USA Glass Ornament, Rare Vintage Glitter Circles Christmas Ornament

Very early Corning USA glass ornament, an unusual and rare retro look with large glitter circles all around the form. Circa late 1930s to early 1940s.

This is a wonderful and hard to find antique vintage American glass Christmas ornament. These particular ornaments were marketed in the late 1930s, when European exports to the United States were halted due to the war.

It is a lovely deep Wedgwood blue color. Large thick glitter circles are applied all around the sphere. There are flecks of color in the old glitter which has aged to a dark color. (This aged color helps to confirm this as an early ornament, as newer glitter is made of plastic which retains its silver color.) It has the original smooth metal cap which reads “Made in U.S. of A.” . This imprinted text which includes the word “of” helps to date this. Caps after that were simplified without it.

It measures 2.25 inches wide and is in excellent vintage condition free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. There is age related oxidation on the cap. One side of the ornament has some glitter loss on a couple of the circles.

This is a fabulous early Corning Glass Christmas ornament, a great addition to any USA ornament collection!
