Vintage Felt Christmas Stocking Santa in Car Japan, Mid Century Christmas

Really fun mid century Japan felt Christmas stocking with a fun variety of appliqué, glitter, and bric-a-brac embellishments! Circa 1970s.

This is a delightful vintage felt Christmas stocking featuring Santa driving his boot shaped car. He holds a striped package, with a gold glitter one at his side. Numerous cut pieces are assembled and glued in place to create this scene, trimmed in curly bright gold bric-a-brac. Three green foil stars appear below, then another gold foil band and additional gold glitter decoration. Silver glitter adorns the wheels and bumper. “Hello!” is spelled out at the top in gold glitter with a red felt hanging loop attached. The back is red felt, finished with an original paper Made in Japan label in the top left corner. These are always a nice bonus to find still intact!

It measures 18.5 inches long from the top left corner to the bottom of the toe tip. It is in excellent condition free of stains, marks, or odors. The felt edges have a few threads shedding, and some silver glitter has gone missing off of the wheels over these many years. There is a crease on the boot toe area.

What a fun mid century Christmas decor collectible, a great addition to any vintage Christmas stocking or Japan Christmas collection!
