Vintage German Sailboat Ornament Wire Wrapped Free Blown Scrap Sailor Ornament, 1950s

Really fun free blown glass sailboat with scrap sailor Christmas ornament, circa early 1950s Germany.

It is simply wonderful featuring an old fashioned sailor in blue and white waving his flag. He stands atop cotton which fills the inside of the red blown glass boat. The pike makes up the mast which is attached with crinkle wire which wraps around the form.

It measures 5.75 inches tall to the top of the cap and is 3.75 inches wide. It is in excellent antique condition free of chips, cracks, or breaks. There is some usual age related oxidation and a bit of minor paint loss. A few of the wire strands are loose but they are complete and unbroken. It retains its original metal cap which is marked West Germany which helps to date this rare ornament.
