Vintage Hard Plastic Santa Candy Container, Irwin Santa Claus Christmas Ornament, 1940s

This is a classic 1940s Christmas decoration, a small red plastic Santa Claus candy container Christmas ornament, made in the USA by Irwin. He is a standing Santa figure, carrying a large toy sack on his back which is open, acting as the container to hold a few small candies. There are many nicely molded details in his classic Santa suit with trim and wide belt, winter boots, and his expressive face with fluffy beard. The white accents help to give this fun Santa a lot of character. There is a loop at the top of his hat for hanging on the Christmas tree as an ornament.

He stands 3.25 inches tall and is in great vintage condition, showing just a bit of minor paint loss. Irwin was a popular manufacturer of hard plastic Christmas decorations during the 1940s and 1950s. This particular Santa is cellulose acetate, which helps to date this little guy.
