Vintage Spun Cotton Christmas Ornament Clip On Mushroom, Vintage German Mushroom Ornament, Red Spotted Mushrooms Clip Ornament

Very sweet German cotton mushroom clip on Christmas ornament in mint condition, circa 1950s.

This is a wonderful vintage lucky mushroom figural ornament, featuring fine German craftsmanship. It is nicely molded with the cap hand painted bright red with the white spots of the classic German mushroom, “Amanita muscaria”. This mushroom in Germany and most of Europe is considered a good luck charm, or “Glücksbringer”, (Good Luck bringer.) The red is coated with a thin glossy lacquer and it is finished with two sprigs of green chenille grass on either side. It fits tightly into the metal cup.

It is measures 1.5 inches wide and 1.75 inches tall assembled in the clip. The mushroom itself is 1 inch wide and 1.5 inches tall. It is in excellent condition free of chips, soiling, or wear. The original metal clip is is in great condition as well showing a bit of minor oxidation.
