Vintage German Glass Bird Clip On Christmas Ornament, Multi Color Sugared Mercury Glass Bird Ornament 1950s

Beautiful and sparkly antique German blown glass clip on bird Christmas ornament, in a rainbow of colors! Circa 1950s.

It is simply wonderful, with a bright silver body and soft pastel airbrushed colors covered in sugary mica glitter. The bird is highly sculptural with finely molded feather and wing details. There are light pink wing patches, a green back and head, with a splash of bright yellow at the nape. The tail feathers are the original spun glass with a pink tinge on the ends. The hand painted black dot eyes and beak finish off this wonderful antique clip on bird ornament.

It measures 5 inches wide, beak tip to tail end. The blown glass body is 2.75 inches and it stands about 2 inches tall. The original spring legs and metal clip are intact. It is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks, or scratches. There is some usual oxidation on the tail end and clip, and some green glue is showing on the bottom.
