Antique Glass Ornament Tinsel Inside Germany, Unsilvered Church in the Woods 1920s

Wonderful early German unsilvered Christmas ornament, a hard to find cottage church with silver tinsel inside! Circa 1920s.

This is the highly sought after Church in the Woods ornament, and quite rare in this unsilvered version with pink and gold accents. The church has six sides, three featuring an embossed cross hand painted bright gold. The other three panels have arched windows. The top features a bumpy texture of foliage and the bottom is lobed. A long multi-branch silver tinsel spray was inserted into the interior of the ornament to give it sparkle and shine. What a unique way to show a lit up church!

It measures 3 inches tall to the top of the metal cap and is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. What a fabulous addition to any antique German or unsilvered tinsel ornament collection, a rare form!

SIDE NOTE: Unsilvered ornaments with tinsel inside are most often American made War Era ornaments from the 1940s. However, this particular ornament is German made and very early. To set themselves apart from other ornament manufacturers, some of the Lauscha ornament makers would create this style of ornament which was so different from the silvered figurals that the region was known for. This makes this ornament quite special and hard to find!

We have more unique hard to find antique pre-1946 figural glass ornaments!

And, a large selection of unique vintage Christmas decorations.
