1900s Antique German Glass Basket Ornament Dresden Flower Spun Glass Wings

Super rare early antique German mercury glass basket ornament, featuring a large Dresden flower and spun glass wings! Circa early 1900s.

This is an amazing Victorian Christmas ornament with a rare assemblage of classic materials. A blown glass basket holds a large Dresden paper daisy which is framed with yellow leaves. The daisy petals have a lot of molded detail with a third yellow center piece. The yellow leaves placed behind show veins and serrated edges. Such nice details! Spun glass wings hold this lovely basket, which also has a spun glass handle which you rarely come across. The back is finished with a round color sticker which shows a little girl holding a teddy bear by the Christmas tree. This finish detail is also quite rare.

It measures 4.5 inches tall and is about 4 inches at its widest point. The mercury glass basket measures 1.5 inches. It is in excellent antique condition, near mint which is amazing for its age. There are a few loose spun glass strands and a spot of glue on the back of one wing.

This antique ornament is so elegant and beautiful, making a lovely statement on the Christmas tree. A beautiful addition to any antique German or Victorian ornament collection.
