1900s Antique Free Blown Glass Christmas Ornament Swan with Tinsel Wings, Glass and Tinsel Bird Ornament

Stunning antique free blown glass swan ornament with fancy tinsel, cellophane, and wire wrap. Circa early 1900s, Germany.

It is simply wonderful featuring shiny silver body that shows a hint of gold. The point tip of the beak still has the tiny ball of glass where the glass blower ended. Amazing after all of these years! It is embellished with thin silver crinkle wire. The tail is comprised of a silver tinsel spray. The bird’s back features two additional tinsel sprays which act as wings. They have very thin strips of red-pink cellophane interspersed with the silver strands. This is quite unique and rare. A thin wire hanging loop is attached at the top to finish this fine ornament.

It measures 5 inches wide beak tip to tail end. The glass bird is 4 inches wide. It is in excellent antique condition free of chips, cracks, or breaks. There is some usual age related oxidation at the tail end.

This is a very special antique hanging glass bird ornament, mouth blown and shaped with a paddle, not from a mold. A one of a kind treasure! A must have for any antique German or Victorian Christmas ornament collection.
