1910s German Wire Wrapped Basket Glass Christmas Ornament, Pre-WWI Antique Ornament

Gorgeous Pre-WWI German wire wrapped mercury glass ornament, featuring a beautifully molded pink basket holding feathery greens and red berries! Circa early 1910s.

The beautifully embossed basket is so nicely detailed, finished with a long pike which holds the foliage bouquet. Two bright red composition berries are framed with small green feathery greenery. (The shape is also reminiscent of the popular hot air balloon style basket.) It is made of very thin blown mercury glass, typical of this era. It is tightly wrapped with curly crinkly wire and the handle is composed of silver tinsel.

It measures 4.25 inches tall to the top of the handle. The glass basket is 2.5 inches tall to the top of the pike. It is in excellent antique condition free of chips or cracks and no paint loss. Amazing condition for its age at over 110 years old. Wow!

This early antique ornament is so elegant and beautiful, making a lovely statement on the Christmas tree. A beautiful addition to any antique German or wire wrapped ornament collection.
