1930s Antique Celluloid Santa Japan, Plastic Long Coat Santa Figurine Waving Santa

Fun very early Japan celluloid long coat Santa figure carrying a lantern and waving! Circa 1930s.

He’s made of flesh colored hollow celluloid with hand painted details. The molding is nicely detailed showing a sweet Santa face with full beard, and the details of his coat and hat. He holds the lit lantern in one hand while waving in the other.

He measures just under 4 inches tall to the top of his hat. He is unmarked, which indicates an earlier time period, likely mid to late 1920s. Later celluloid Santas of this same design were made into the 1930s and early 1940s, and were a larger 5 inch size with a Japan diamond mark.

He is in excellent antique condition free of wear or paint loss, amazing for its age!

Celluloid was the first semi-synthetic plastic, a very exciting new material developed in the mid 1800s. This is a must-have older Japan celluloid Santa to add to your plastic Christmas figurine collection, a great gift to any vintage Santa collector!
