1930s Antique German Glass Ornament Fish with Spun Glass Tail Carp Christian Ornament

A superb antique German figural blown glass fish Christmas ornament with annealed hook and spun glass tail! Circa 1930s.

This is a unique, early gold and red carp fish ornament. The carp has been a dominant Christian Christmas symbol since the mid 1800s when figural ornaments started to decorate the family Christmas trees. It represents good blessings and abundance, as well as the Christian faith.

This is a large size ornament at 5.25 inches wide tip to tail end. The glass body is 3.5 inches wide. It features a deeply molded design, showing graduating sizes of fish scales, gills, multiple fins, and a pointed mouth which indicates the carp species. The original spun glass tail is wonderful. The ornament is finished with an annealed hanging hook, rare and very nice!

This wonderful antique glass fish ornament is in excellent condition free of chips or cracks, the coloring bright. What a fabulous addition to your vintage antique figural Christmas ornament collection!
