1950s German Count Down Calendar with Envelope, Vintage Childrens Unused Advent Calendar Santa Angels

Wonderful sparkly unused German countdown to Christmas advent calendar, featuring Santa surrounded by child angels and gifts! Please view the details to see all that is going on in this fun vintage Christmas decoration. Complete with original unused envelope, circa late 1940s to early 1950s.

The wonderful village scene features Santa in his classic red suit and large sack over his shoulder. A large decorated tree is laden with snow and lit with candles. Adorable angels surround the scene, helping Santa with toys and gifts and playing music. A night time sky is in the background with sparkly stars. There are numerous silver glitter accents outlining the lively design throughout.

It measures 9 inches by 9.5 inches and is in excellent, mint condition having never been opened. There are no marks, tears, stains, or tape residue. The color lithography is vibrant and crisp with no fading. Early German lithographic printing is known for its high quality and attention to detail. The door tabs are shut tight, unopened in their die cut holes. We have no idea what delightful surprises will appear behind the doors, but we know they will be fun! The style number 270/5 is printed in the lower right corner. On the left, “Printed in Western Germany” is printed in small text. The unused envelope is clean and crisp, showing some age toning. It also has this mark. One small area of paper is missing in the envelope corner.

We estimate this to have been produced in the late 1940s since both pieces are marked, “Printed in Western Germany”, a required mark beginning in 1949 when West Germany was formed. The first marks used this spelled out Western Germany text. A bit later, it was shortened to simply “West Germany or W Germany”. This fun vintage advent calendar was distributed into the early to mid 1950s Christmas seasons.
