Vintage German Advent Calendar Unused Nativity, Count Down to Christmas Calendar

Wonderful sparkly unused German countdown to Christmas advent calendar, featuring a sweet nativity scene with angels and children! Please view the detail photos to see all that is going on in this fun vintage Christmas decoration. Circa 1950s-1960s.

The wonderful night time scene features Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus in the manger with the Star of Bethlehem lighting the scene. Animals and children are nearby as angels play music and sing. The three kings present their gifts to the newborn King. A group of angels appear in a cloud in the corner amidst a field of glitter stars. So beautiful! Additional sparkling glitter accents line the images throughout.

This beautiful mid century advent calendar measures 10.5 x 7.5 inches. It is in excellent, mint condition having never been opened. It is free of marks, tears, or stains. The color lithography is vibrant and crisp with no fading. Early German lithograph printing is known for its high quality and attention to detail. The door tabs are shut tight, unopened in their die cut holes. We have no idea what delightful surprises will appear behind the doors, but we know they will be fun! The style number “Haco 37” is printed in the lower left corner along with the artist’s signature, “Lore H.”, who was a prolific illustrator of German advent calendars during this period. The silver glitter has aged to a light gray, helping to date this piece. (Glitter started being made with plastic instead of ground glass in the 1970s, which does not age in color.)
