1981 First White House Christmas Ornament original Box, RARE Historical Society Copper Angel

This is a hard find ornament, the first in this series from the White House Historical Society, dated and distributed in 1981.

It is complete with the original red velvet lined box imprinted with a gilt title on the front. The lovely flying trumpeting angel is made of copper sheeting and is a replica of a famous angel weathervane made in 1840, an important part of its history. She has a wonderful antique patina and measures 4.25 inches wide with a gold cord hanging loop. The box measures 5.75 inches by 5.25 and is embossed with gold foil writing, “Christmas 1981, The White House”.  It is in excellent vintage condition free of wear..

Ronald Reagan was President at this time, and the original ornament hung on the tree in the Blue Room of the White House that Christmas season. This first in the series ornament is a great piece of history and highly collectible.
