1982 White House Christmas Ornament in Box with Authenticity, Dove of Peace Copper Ornament

This is second in this series from the White House Historical Society, dated and distributed in 1982. Hard to find.

It is a complete set with the red velvet lined box and printed history card. The flying dove holds an olive branch in its mouth, a symbol of peace throughout history. It is made of copper sheeting and is a replica of George Washington’s Mt. Vernon weathervane made in 1787 which is described in the pamphlet. It has a wonderful antique patina and measures 3.5 inches wide with a gold cord hanging loop. The box measures 5.75 inches by 5.25 and is embossed with gold foil writing, “Christmas 1982, The White House Historical Association”. All pieces are in excellent vintage condition free of wear. The pamphlet has a few small foxing spots.

Ronald Reagan was President at this time, and the original ornament hung on the tree in the Blue Room of the White House that Christmas season. This second in the series ornament is a great piece of history and highly collectible.

We have the very first ornament in this series, the 1981 White House Christmas Ornament, listed separately. It is highly prized and hard to find.
