Antique Celluloid Santa Rattle Japan, Plastic Red Coat Santa with Doll Figurine Christmas Toy 1930s

Fun hard to find early Japan celluloid Christmas rattle, a red coat Santa carrying a doll behind his back! Circa 1930s.

He’s made of flesh colored hollow celluloid with nice hand painted details. The fine molding is extremely detailed showing a sweet Santa face with full beard, along with the fuzzy white trim of his coat and hat. His face has such a nice expression with a rosy red mouth. He holds a cute colorful doll behind his back and is finished with a black belt, buttons, and boots. Small beads were enclosed inside and it still makes a nice rattling sound!

He measures 4 inches tall to the top of his hat and features a Japan diamond mark on the back. There is a patent number embossed above his belt: PAT NO 32304. These marks are a great part of this special Christmas toy!

He is in excellent antique condition free of wear or paint loss, a bit amazing for its age. The bottom is missing the original label showing a small crack but minor.

Celluloid was the first semi-synthetic plastic, a very exciting new material developed in the mid 1800s. This is a must-have older Japan celluloid Santa to add to your plastic Christmas figurine collection, a great gift to any vintage Santa collector. Quite rare as a rattle toy!
