1930s Double Indent Mushroom Christmas Ornament Poland, Vintage Indent Teardrop Ornament

Hard to find antique mercury glass teardrop ornament with two indents and a hand painted German lucky mushroom on the side! Circa 1930s Poland.

One half of the ornament is a pretty soft blue, the other ivory white. Hand painted decoration divides the center line. Both sides feature a very deep starburst indent with a tiny splash of bright blue in the center. The best feature is the nicely detailed red spotted mushroom on one side, the classic German mushroom, “Amanita muscaria”. This mushroom in Germany and most of Europe is considered a good luck charm, or “Glücksbringer”, (Good Luck bringer.)

It measures 3 inches tall to the top of the original metal cap. It is in excellent condition still bright with minimum wear. The hand painted mushroom is intact and crisp, free of paint loss. Our photos show all four sides of this amazing old ornament.

These indent ornaments with the added hand painted decoration are somewhat scarce. A wonderful addition to any vintage Christmas ornament collection, and a thoughtful gift for someone special!
