Antique German Paper Scrap Angels, 1900s Victorian Christmas Ornament Supplies
Fabulous early 1900s German paper scrap featuring two lovely pairs of angel musicians!
This is a wonderful pair of antique Victorian Christmas ornament paper scraps, featuring high quality chromolitho printing that the Germans are known for.
There is so much fine detail throughout, with lovely cherub faces and period details to the hair, robes, and musical instruments. They hold sheet music with a violin in one scrap and the other plays the harp. Each scrap measures 3.5 inches wide by 2.75 inches. They are in perfect condition, especially for their age, well over 120 years old! The colors are vibrant and crisp. The paper is free of tears or creases. They were once part of a large sheet and there are a couple of strands protruding where they would have been attached. An original round maker’s label is attached to the harp scrap which reads, “L & B Printed in Germany”.
Make your own antique Victorian Christmas ornaments with this rare and unique German paper scrap!
SIDE NOTE:
Printed German die-cuts, called scraps, are known for their high quality and fine detail. The litho printing consisted of a 20-24 color plate process, one plate printed on top of another, to form an almost three dimensional image.
