Antique Glass Clip Bird Ornament German Peacock Christmas Ornament Feather Tree 1950s

Lovely and delicate antique German glass peacock clip on bird ornament, circa 1950s.

This small figural mercury glass bird ornament is simply wonderful with finely molded feather and wing details. The light green lacquered wings contrast with the silver body. The head and long neck are bright yellow-gold. The red beak is super fine, thin, and long. The crown consists of one red spike which is so very delicate. The tail feathers are the original spun glass.

It measures 3.25 inches wide beak tip to tail end, the glass body being 2.25 inches. It is in very good vintage condition free of chips or cracks. The crown and beak are superb and completely intact, which is somewhat amazing for its age and their fragile nature. The spring leg is attached to the original waffle style metal clip. There is a bit of the usual age related oxidation and paint loss at the tail end.
