Vintage De Carlini Free Blown Christmas Ornament Elephant, Italy Blown Glass Ornament 1950s

Delightful vintage De Carlini glass Christmas ornament, a bright pink elephant with a curved annealed trunk. Wonderful hand painted details, circa 1950s!

This is an earlier De Carlini Italy free blown ornament, so colorful and cheery with his hand painted face and big smile. Two round spheres are joined by a center neck. The top sphere is the head which has two embossed ears at the top. A wonderful curved trunk is attached between two big eyes. The pike forms part of his head and is topped with its original metal cap which is stamped “Made in Italy”. Our photos show all sides of this fun vintage Italian figural ornament.

It measures 4.5 inches tall and is in excellent vintage condition free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. A great addition to any De Carlini collection, and a special gift for the mouse collector!

SIDE NOTE: The northern Italians became well known for free blown ornaments like this in the early 1950s, creating their own Christmas ornament niche rather than compete with the ever popular German molded ornaments. They are very collectible due to the time consuming process and their fragile nature. The body is free blown by the glassblower from a tube of super thin glass.
