Fabulous antique German blown glass large cello Christmas ornament with nice detailing. Circa early 1900s.

This is a wonderful blown glass Christmas ornament measuring just under 4 inches tall. The glass is very thin and fine, indicative of this early Lauscha era. It features a long thin neck and wide fat body. Molded details include bright pink strings and gold curved sound hole accents. The sides are rimmed with an indented triple border on both the front and back. The bottom features a tiny ball of glass where the glass blower ended. Wow! It’s amazing this is still intact over these many years.

It retains its original unmarked Luascha style metal cap and is in very good antique condition. There is a bit of minor age related paint loss here and there. The original neck was likely longer, as there is a chip on the pike which the cap covers. An original striped cotton hanging cord is still attached, always a nice bonus to have on these very old ornaments!
