Vintage De Carlini Free Blown Christmas Ornament Seahorse, Italy Blown Glass Ornament 1950s

Delightful vintage De Carlini glass Christmas ornament, a complex green and blue seahorse with glitter! Circa 1950s-60s.

It is clear glass beautifully blown into the classic curved seahorse shape with a looped circle tail. The color is airbrushed with a bright green speckled pattern, and the center features a wide ribbed band with three glittered edges circling the form. Four bright blue annealed fins are attached on the back and it features nice hand painted black eyes. It is finished with an annealed hanging loop at the top with the original thread hanging loop attached.

It measures 5 inches tall by 3 inches wide and is in excellent, as new vintage condition free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. A must-have addition to any De Carlini collection, a special gift for the ocean theme collector!

SIDE NOTE: The northern Italians became well known for free blown ornaments like this in the early 1950s, creating their own Christmas ornament niche rather than compete with the ever popular German molded ornaments. They are very collectible due to the time consuming process and their fragile nature. The body is free blown by the glassblower from a tube of super thin glass.
