Vintage German Advent Calendar Angels Santa, Unused Countdown to Christmas Calendar with Envelope, Haco

Wonderful sparkly unused German countdown to Christmas advent calendar, featuring sweet angels and Santa in his sleigh! Please view the detail photos to see all that is going on in this fun vintage angels Christmas decoration. Complete with original unused envelope, circa late 1940s to early 1950s.

The wonderful night time scene features a lush evergreen forest, with snow capped trees and a church in the woods amidst a field of bright stars. A team of angels is busy helping Santa, as other angels look on from inside the lit church windows. So beautiful! Sparkling glitter accents line the roof edges and tree boughs. The windows and some of the angel’s garments are also trimmed with this pretty glitter.

This beautiful mid century advent calendar measures just under 8 inches by 11 inches. It is in excellent, mint condition having never been opened. There are no marks, tears, or stains. The color lithography is vibrant and crisp with no fading. Early German lithograph printing is known for its high quality and attention to detail. The door tabs are shut tight, unopened in their die cut holes. We have no idea what delightful surprises will appear behind the doors, but we know they will be fun! The style number “Haco 237” is printed in the lower left corner. On the right, “Printed in W Germany” is printed in small text. The unused envelope is clean and crisp, showing some age toning. There is a pencil price mark of 35 cents!

We estimate this to have been produced in the late 1940s since the envelope is marked, “Printed in Western Germany”, a required mark beginning in 1949 when West Germany was formed. The first marks used the spelled out Western Germany text. A bit later, it was shortened to simply “West Germany or W Germany”. This fun vintage angels with Santa calendar was distributed into the early to mid 1950s Christmas seasons.
