Vintage German Advent Calendar Nativity Manger Scene with Envelope for Hallmark

Bright and sparkly unused vintage child’s paper Christmas advent calendar, as new with original envelope. Made in West Germany for Hallmark! Circa 1950s-1960s.

It features a sweet nativity scene with angels and and woodland animals! Please view the detail photos to see all that is going on in this wonderful vintage Christmas decoration.

The night time scene features Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus in the manger with the Star of Bethlehem lighting the scene. Animals look on as angels play music and sing. Snow covers the trees and rooftop amidst a sky of glitter stars. So beautiful! Additional sparkling glitter accents line the images throughout.

The bottom left corner is marked, “Printed in Western Germany”. The right corner features the Hallmark Crown logo above the style number “50XC1-1”, and the Hallmark copyright. This calendar was made in Germany expressly for Hallmark Cards of the USA.

It measures 7 7/8 x 11 inches, and the envelope is 8 3/8 x 11 3/8 inches. It is in excellent, mint condition having never been opened. It is free of marks, tears, or stains. The color lithography is vibrant and crisp with no fading. Early German lithograph printing is known for its high quality and attention to detail. The door tabs are shut tight, unopened in their die cut holes. We have no idea what delightful surprises will appear behind the doors, but we know they will be fun! The envelope is also in excellent condition free of marks or wear. There is a bit of age toning but minor. The silver glitter has aged to a light gray, helping to date this piece. (Glitter started being made with plastic instead of ground glass in the 1970s, which does not age in color.)
