Vintage German Glass Christmas Ornament Gnome under Tree, Dwarf Elf Figural Ornament

Wonderful vintage German blown glass Christmas ornament, the classic Gnome on a Tree with mushrooms! Circa 1960s, West Germany.

This is a deeply molded blown glass ornament, full of so much detail. The evergreen tree has multiple layers of overlapping green branches. The gnome peeks out from the bottom branches, his face highly detailed with dot black eyes and a red mouth. Three red mushrooms wrap around the form. (Mushrooms are a good luck symbol in Germany and much of Europe.) The bottom is lobed and retains the tiny ball of glass where the glass blower ended!

It is in mint condition and measures 3.5 inches tall to the top of the cap. It is free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. The silvering is still very strong and bright. It retains its original fancy metal cap which is stamped West Germany which helps to date this piece.
