Vintage German Glass Reflector Ornament Large Deep Indent Christmas Ornament 1930s

Striking, hard to find antique German large reflector indent Christmas ornament with interior glass ball, circa 1930s.

It is a large silver indent ornament with a hot pink inner glass ball which reflects off the interior walls of the deep indent. It sits on a fancy gold metal wire snowflake-like medallion which also adds drama and sparkle. The top is finished with a small gold Dresden star decoration.

It measures 3 inches wide. The pink sphere is 7/8″ wide. The exhaust tip is on the back which acts as the pike, requiring a unique hanging hook which attaches to the side. This ornament has a homemade hanging hook. There is no cap on this style of reflectors.

It is in very good antique condition, free of chips or cracks. The silvering is strong and intact with a bit of oxidation. A beautiful and rare addition to your antique German Christmas ornament collection!

SIDE NOTE: The popular vintage Italian kaleidoscope indent ornaments are fashioned after this same design and they too are highly collectible. Those usually had a liquid filling inside the interior ball. The German ones did not.
