Lovely vintage German glass peacock bird ornament with nicely molded detail! Circa 1940s.

It is simply wonderful with its fully open and spread feathers. The silvered body is embossed with feathers, ridges, and bumps. Dark green, rusty red, and orange colors enhance the design. (These colors are indicative of the post war era which helps to date this piece. The bright color formulas of prior years were lost in the war.)

The glass is very thin and fine, typical of this era of German glass ornament making. It measures 3 inches tall to the top of the cap. The ornament is in very good vintage condition free of chips or cracks, the silvering still bright and strong. The pike has a break on one side, shown in the last photo. It is topped with the original unmarked Lauscha style cap with its flat hanging loop.

No vintage ornament collection is complete without an antique peacock or two, a nice gift for the bird lover!
