Vintage Large Blue Unsilvered Glass Ornament Tinsel Inside, Corning War Era Ornament

Striking large vintage Corning war era unsilvered glass ornament with a long sparkly tinsel spray inside. American made, rare blue color!

It is lovely shade of clear blue with three colorful stripes that wrap around the form. The large tinsel spray is very bright and extends from inside the pike to the bottom. It retains its original smooth metal cap and there is an original cotton cord hanging loop, always a nice bonus to find on these old ornaments! It measures a large 3.25 inches wide and almost 4 inches tall to the top of the cap which is marked, “Made in US of A” which helps to date this to the 1940s. It is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks, or paint loss. One area of the white stripe has a small circle repeating, likely a factory blip.

This is a fabulous and very hard to find vintage USA glass Christmas ornament, a great addition to any collection!

SIDE NOTE: Metallic mercury glass ornaments get their shine from being coated on their interior with a silver nitrate solution. In 1940, WWII wartime shortages restricted this material, and ornaments during this time frame were produced without silvering. Since unsilvered ornaments were less popular than the shiny mercury glass, they are harder to find and thus more collectible.
