Antique Glass Clip Ornament Peacock German Glass Bird Christmas Ornament Feather Tree 1930s

Lovely and delicate antique German glass peacock clip on bird ornament, circa 1930s.

This is a very early small figural mercury glass bird ornament. It is simply wonderful with finely molded feather and wing details. Darker magenta-red lacquered wings contrast with the silver body. The head and long neck are a beautiful turquoise blue. The beak is super fine, thin, and long. The crown consists of one gold spike which is so very delicate. The tail feathers are the original spun glass.

It measures 3.5 inches wide beak tip to tail end, the glass body being 2.25 inches. It is in excellent antique condition free of chips or cracks. The crown and beak are superb and completely intact, which is somewhat amazing for its age and their fragile nature. The spring leg is attached to the original antique scallop shaped metal clip. There is a bit of the usual age related oxidation at the tail end.
